Psychoeducational ASSESSMENT
Psychoeducational Assessment
Psychoeducational assessments can help with understanding and supporting the learning, cognitive, attention, or mental health needs of children and adolescents. When an assessment is administered, interpreted, and summarized in a manner that accurately describes an individual’s strengths and needs, the child can be better understood and supported across home, school, and community environments. Our assessments may include multi-disciplinary clinicians, depending on the specific reason for referral. We work collaboratively as psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, and literacy specialists. We aim to provide clarity of strengths and individual needs as well as a clear path forward with specific individual recommendations for your child.
Our assessments can help to identify:
Specific Learning Disorders
Specific Literacy Challenges
Cognitive Challenges
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Social-Emotional/Behavioural Difficulties
Adaptive Functioning
Mental Health Challenges
Information is most often gathered through parent/guardian/teacher interviews, a review of school records, observations, and administration of standardized assessment tools. Each assessment report is unique and will be individualized to the child-specific to the referral reason and assessment measures used.
Assessment reports will usually include:
The purpose of the assessment
A summary of historical information
A list of measures used in the assessment
A summary of performance, strengths and weaknesses as it relates to referral questions
Recommendations for the school, home, and community
Referral information for potential community based supports
